When I last wrote...

When I last wrote, I still lived in a rented townhouse. I had a little boy who was awaiting the start of his second grade year in public school and a little girl who had not yet started her kindergarten homeschooling adventures. I'd just brought into the folds of our family an adorable Pug puppy who, at the time, weighed a little over four pounds. Our hamster, Copper, was elderly...but still alive and well.
When I last wrote, the passenger door of my car was still pristine and accident free. I had not seen Jason Mraz live in concert and I was not the proud owner of lovely Levolor blinds for our new (old) house, a 50 inch plasma TV, and a new couch and loveseat.
When I last wrote, the death and apparent suicide of my dear friend, Chris, was still fresh and incredibly painful. The release of the book by best-selling author, Steve Alten, in which I'm a character was still months away. Football season had not yet begun but was eagerly anticipated and I had not yet found our new local holistic pediatrician.
When I last wrote, summer was in full force and the sun was scorching. Flowers were in bloom everywhere I looked and evening thunderstorms were a constant occurrence. Mosquitos seemed to love feasting on my skin and our yard was not yet brown and dead from the many moles attacking the ground.
When I last wrote...I was feeling overwhelmed by my life.

Oh Bridge....how I have missed you. Tell us about sandpaper grits and the joys of home ownership and why the hell didn't someone warn you about all the pain involved.
